The Story

A secretive clan of modern, aristocratic Vampires, find their nation, The Underworld, is being threatened. A war has been brewing for centuries as rival nations discard their expired human cattle and degenerate vamps at the Underworlds borders.  The vampires' food supply, human blood, is dwindling due to  contamination and disease. Malnutrition has turned  many vamps into creatures incapable of function. Two Vamp Leaders, Dayne and Kam, are entrenched in a conflict as to the right solution to clean up their nation. Despite their difference in opinions and personalities, they have remained friends for centuries.  Kam, a centuries old warlord, is as charismatic as he is impulsive. He insists war is the only way to regain control and restore their nation to its pristine self.  He considers humans a food source, recruits them into a cult, then turns them into a regenerating food supply called Fractions.  Dayne, an introverted, compassionate centuries old scientist, argues that the solu

Vampire Culture

In this story, there are various classifications of vampires spread throughout the world. The two main groups are sport vamps and humane  vamps, much like meat eaters and vegans. Sport vamps primarily feed on live humans, hunting them for the fun of the challenge. Humane vamps prefer not to kill for food and look to alternative sources. Vampires are more docile and less fiendish than in the past. They prefer to stay in their own nation  and have farms of reusable live humans, called Fractions, as a food supply. They'll occasionally go out for a sport kill, but the majority of time the vamps wait for the humans to come to them. It's easier and less suspicious. Humans think they are joining a vampire themed cult. Since cults have the reputation of keeping people away from loved ones, no one  suspects what is really happening. Vampires like this concept. In their eyes they are aiding humanity. Through the centuries, vampires have made major contributions to society and science. Ma

Character backstory: Dayne

Dayne is a vampire scientist. Somewhat introverted, he's brilliant, inventive and compassionate. His ultimate personal goal is to find a meaning for vampire life and existence. His core goal is to create a better world for vamps, and humans alike, via scientific progress.  Much like his namesake, the prominent diety Dayneichi Buddha, Dayne is compassionate, insightful and intelligent.  Dayneichi is often depicted with theWisdom Gesture, aka the "knowledge or wisdom fist." In this position, the left index finger is surrounded by the fingers of the right hand. The Wisdom Gesture helps Dayne harness the power to restrain undesirable forces that hinder concentration. He finds strength from this gesture during telekineses or when faced with a particular challenge.  His ability to focus has enabled him to make significant contributions in scientific discovery. Dayne has worked on research and development of an alternative food source for vamps for centuries. He is close to a br

Character backstory: Kam

Kam is a charismatic, mysterious and calculating vampire. He was turned vamp in sixteenth century Japan. At this time, civil wars were common.  Kam watched and learned as the succession of warlords led to increased power, territory and a reestablishment of order and reunification. For this reason, Kam believes a war-like take over is necessary to elicit changes in the Underworld.  He presumes once they have gained control and restored order in the Underworld, they can stop other nations from dumping their degenerate vamps on their border. Kam has a large following in both the vamp and human worlds.  He recruits humans, like a cult leader would, to create Fractions and use them as a food supply.   Among vamps, Kam has strong influence with the nations Monarchs, the high level vamp decision makers. He also has a position of power in the nation's governing system. Kam's name comes from Japanese mythology in which the gods created over 800 “kami” or  spirits when they created the c

Nia knew her mother died due to childbirth complications, but her father’s cryptic last words and the key left her with many more questions. She inherited her mother's compassion for human and vamp life. Although the vamp lifestyle disgusts her, Nia feels if a synthetic blood solution could be found, vamps could sustain in  a more benign way.
