Nia is a genetic engineer & microbiologist. She is a perceptive and cautious human. Both her parents were prominent scientists.
Oh her father’s death bed, he confessed, “Before you were born, your mother gave up everything to keep you safe. She knew you were special. You are the key.” He gave her the key to her mother’s special trunk of scientific research, log books and family items. Nia knew her mother died due to childbirth complications, but her father’s cryptic last words and the key left her with many more questions.
She inherited her mother's compassion for human and vamp life. Although the vamp lifestyle disgusts her, Nia feels if a synthetic blood solution could be found, vamps could sustain in a more benign way. She hopes she can see the day when the two species live in harmony.
While doing online research, Nia connects with another scientist (Dayne). Without either one revealing specific details, they begin to communicate about their work. After months of collaboration, including Zoom meetings and Facetime conversations, Nia finally entrusts Dayne with the true nature of her work. He reveals that he deduced this is the nature of her work and he, too, has been working on something similar.
Dayne and Nia both believe this formula, if successful, would benefit both vamps and humans and create a world where they can co-exist peacefully.
